WIFI…Connection – June reflection

It has become increasingly difficult for us to separate the WIFI from our personal connections. Surrounding ourselves with speakers, phones, tablets, computers, headphones and smart TV’s. This convenience is so integrated in our daily lives, that we don’t even notice the effect it has.

Most of us are always stressing about our battery life, continuously scrambling to find a charger, we connect to friends and family’s WIFI when we visit and we mindlessly check our emails or messages in the middle of conversations, without even a second thought. While these small things may go unnoticed by us, they calculate over time and place strain on our relationships .

Since our reality and online lives have become so intertwined, it is crucial that we practice “screen off” time to mitigate this issue. This is a challenging thing to do, however if we apply this in even the smallest pocket of time, we will start to notice a positive impact. Spend it by tackling a hobby, to practice self care, take a walk, play with your children/pets or even read a book. You will be amazed at how much time you free up and can now spend doing “luxury” things you never have time for.

Once you get this right you can move on to the most important part “quality time”. Making a genuine effort to touch base, get together and really be present. Snap that food pick or selfie and put your device away. Now you can really hear, feel and see what is going on around you without filters and likes. Let us not forget, that growing our connection to our loved ones and having these personal experiences, is what life is all about.

Till next time…
