One thing

We go 0-100 and back again everyday in our minds. Constantly thinking of what’s next on our mental checklist. Whirling from place to place with thoughts spinning in our heads. No wonder we get dizzy and fall sometimes.

Housework never ends, being a parent/fur-parent isn’t always a breeze, family can be stressful and our day job doesn’t stop because we do. Even when we get off time or clock out, our mind is still turning. What are we to do?

Limit phone time – stop work when you knock off. This one is super important, and for some, super difficult. It is impossible to do anything else when your mind is set on only your work tasks 24/7. To be successful in all your tasks, you need eliminate distractions when working on them. You do not need to check your emails every minute or scroll through your socials. Avoid FOMO (the fear of missing out) and stay in the moment.

Set your focus – what is important to you? Set your focus on the right things and prioritize. If family dinner is important, make sure you focus on that and get some quality time without deviating to other tasks. Not only do you get a break, but your mind will get a moment of peace and your subconscious stress will ease.

Make lists – take it off your mind by writing it down. Eliminating the fear of forgetting will ease the chaos of constantly trying to remember it all Make a to do list for today, your week or even the month. Prepare shopping lists by noting down what you need as you see it. Create goals and the sub steps within, to accomplish them. Tick everything off as you go and track your progress, moving tasks day to day as required.

Realistic time frames – we simply cannot do all 50 tasks within 24 hrs. Be real with yourself and honest about your capabilities. Allot the required time and a little extra for everything. Based on this you can map out the landscape knowing what you need to do, when you need to do it, and that it might not be done that day.

Tackle one thing at a time, thoughtfully and purposefully, to live a happier life.

Till next time…
