Soul clutter

What is Soul clutter? Heavy, unrelenting and disorganized, this type of clutter fills every crevice. We constantly cram in doubt, fear, negativity and stress, pilling on more and more, stretching our soul to it’s limits. We carry the burden for others, sweeping out their worries only to put more on ours. We loose faith and invite guilt in situations out of our control.

For ever growing and multiplying this mound is no small task to tackle. Even the most organised person on the planet, constantly tidying mastering control of any space, will never dare to look inward at the real, raw and deep dirt that desperately needs to be addressed.

Time to de-clutter your soul, let’s get started :

1. Take stock – Look within. What have you been hoarding? Asses the structure. Are there cracks from the heaviness of emotional distress? Have you stacked too many old negative memories so high you cannot see the ceiling? Are you harboring ill will towards people in your life blocking out the light ?

2. Spring clean – Dust off your smile and get to work. Organize the waste. Anger, loss, pain, heartache and hate. Time to bag it up and let go. Toss that “what ifs” and “should haves” into recycling. Sweep out the oppressors in your life. Place the good times, laughter, kindness and forgiveness on the mantle again.

3. Repair – Reconnect to your happiness. This might mean taking small conscious steps everyday, or easing in naturally. Slap on a new point of view and fill your soul with goodness. Invest in nature, your faith , your mental and physical health. Be kind to yourself. Learn to say no and strike away doubt. Find pleasure in the small things: That breath of cold air first thing in the morning, the smell of jasmine in spring, that sip of freshly brewed coffee. You have worked hard to be here and deserve it all.

My parting advise to you is to never give up. Keep fighting for a healthier and restful soul. We must do the work ourselves, but we are never alone. Remember to take pause and notice all the things to be grateful for.

Till next time …
